Individual blocks of the Coonawarra Fruit Colony were offered in four hectare allotments at ÂŁ100 on fairly easy terms. It wasn't long before Coonawarra Claret established an international reputation. The Riddoch holdings were acquired in the 1950s by Melbourne wine merchants Samuel and David Wynnn, who redeveloped the deterioraing estate to new and greater glory.

Ron loved Redman's wine so much, hewas inspired in 1955 to purchase Mildara's first 12.5ha of the Coonawarra's famous Terra Rossa soil. Excellent Langtons Classification. One of the Coonawarra's most feted marques in Cabernet Sauvignon. The Majella property was originally acquired for the purpose of grazing lamb. Eric Brand of neighbouring Laira Vineyard offered to buy fruit from Majella if the land was turned over to Cabernet. The site was planted in 1968, much of the vintages that followed went to Wynn's, but it was not until 1993 that Majella vinified and bottled its own estate labelled wine. The inaugural release was enthusiastically received and Majella have never looked back.
