Bernard Dugat is a thirteenth generation winegrower. Domaine Dugat-Py retain ten hectares of the most superior blocks in all of Le Vignoble de Bourgogne, even the youngest vines are fifty or sixty years of age. Viticulture is completely biodynamic and fully organic, all work is done by hand, except for those duties which are best carried out by a horse. The finished Morgeot Blanc is treated to eighteen or twenty months maturation in completely new oak, a mere few hundred bottles are produced each year.

Towards the southwest of Chassagne-Montrachet, alongside Route de Santenay, lies the Abbaye de Morgeot. Domaine Dugat-Py retain a very small part of the elite Climat at Morgeot but the quality of fruit is without peer. Vines planted to good sites in Awatere Valley are stimulated by low rainfall and strong coastal winds, intense sunshine yet cool nights. Wairau Valley offers an abundance of sunshine, long autumns and crisp cool winters. Both yield harvests of world class white wine grapes. Drift take their pick of each, to create a wine with wonderful roundness of palate, a vibrant yet elegant expression of Marlborough, replete with the essential elements of Wairau and Awatere Pinot Gris.

Dominique Portet comes from a great lineage of notable winemakers, he clearly shines at Sauvignon Blanc, honing his style during tours of duty at Taltarni and Napa Valley's Clos du Val. Totally unworried about competition from across the Tasman, Portet's style of Sauvignon Blanc enjoys a growing demand in Qantas business class and throughout the world. Pinot Gris remains an inspiration to the most accomplished winemakers, its myriad of interpretations and stylistic variations can make this engaging varietal a rewarding experience for the dedicated artisan. Domaine Chandon capture the pristine cool climate character of Pinot Gris in a wine of balance and sophistication. Grapes are sourced from the Whitlands Plateau vineyard at 800 metres above sea level.
