World Whisky of the Year 2012 by the prestigious Jim Murray's Whisky Bible. Old Pulteney is matured in prior use bourbon oak, further seasoned by spirit from sherry, mostly dry Fino, bearing casks. Established 1794, Oban are one of the smallest Whisky Distilleries in Scotland, a two pot still operation, it endures as a first choice amongst discerning Malt enthusiasts. Oban Malt enjoyed a resurgence to fame in the 1980s, but the major part of the production is traditionally called upon by the popular Blended Whisky brands such as Dewar and Bell's. An assemblage of small batch Malts, aged in a selection of smaller casks for greater exposure to oak, infusing the creamy characters of vanilla, savouryness and smoke, for a richer, more engaging style of Malt Whisky.

Oban is a charming harbour town of archealogical interest, which faces the Isle of Mull. The distillery was built in 1794 by the Stevenson brothers, Hugh, John and James, who were also founders of the town. The Dewar's group became owner in 1823, and it changed hands again until eventually being mothballed during the Great Depression, during World War II and from 1969 to 1972. Oban Distillers Edition is characterised by the distinct saline savouryness of west coast Highland Malts, finished in a selection of Montilla Fino Sherry oak casks.

Masataka Taketsuru is known as the father of Japanese Whisky, born heir to a distinguished Sake works which date back to 1733, he turned his attention to Whisky and embarked upon a pilgrimmage to the Scottish highlands in 1918. Nikka From the Barrel has been created to afford true enthusiasts the opportunity to experience Whisky as the Malt Masters do. Assembled and returned to oak, bottled at cask strength 51.4%, From the Barrel is an expansive accord of Malt and grain Whiskies, structured, splendid and august.

Brewed exclusively from the finest Japan grown malted barley and distilled in imported Scottish Coffey Stills at the Miyagikyo Whiskyworks. Nikka adhere to the most traditional, fine Spirit making techniques, including the painstaking employment of pot stills, fired by finely powdered natural coal, a process which is no longer used anywhere else in the world. Masataka Taketsuru is celebrated to this day as the father of Japanese Whisky, he chose a very special site in the mountains of Sendai to establish his second Distillery, an idyllic place with exposure to the cleanest air, perfect humidity and access to unique underground aquafirs, which filter water through layers of peat. Brewed in a traditional pot still, heated by indirect steam and aged in pre loved oak casks, a blend of Malts from the Yoichi and Miyagikyo Distilleries, assembled with a component of Coffey Distilled grain Whisky for smoothness and complexity.

The Nant farmworks have been growing the finest quality barley for almost 200 years, the pick of their crop is set aside for the Distillery. A Clan with a long and proud history, Muirhead were the Royal Bodyguard of King James IV. At the battle of Flodden Field in 1513, James and thousands of Scottish patriots perished in the largest battle ever fought between Scotland and England. Conspicuous amongst the casualties was John Laird of the Muirhead and two hundred of his clansmen.

CASK 1902 Distilled in 1954 and kept in old sherry butt cask until bottling in 2002 at the age of 49 years. Colour is a rich laburnum. A nose of dark, dried fruits (prunes) with robust resins with cloves, ginger and wood. On the palate is a classic first fill sherry cask with dried fruit, clove-like spices and treacle toffee.
