An elite block of Pinot Noir at Rutherford Vineyard, nestled within the gently north facing foothills of Ben Morven Valley in the Southern Marlborough Clays. Crafted to minimalist handling techniques, a beguilingly eloquent style of Pinot Noir defined by its outstanding purity and finesse. Seductive perfumes of ripe red apple, violets and lithe, fragrant spice over an expansive Pinot palate layered with bright fresh fruit flavours, supported by supple tannins and delicate background oak, a lengthy, exquisitely balanced, immaculate, satin sheen finish.

From fruit grown to closely husbanded vines on the Villa Maria estate property, at the outskirts of the eminent Gimblett Gravels precinct in Hawkes Bay. The vineyard has been managed to holistic principles of viticulture for many years, the quality of wine speaks for itself. Rather than relying on herbicides or pesticides, the focus is on enhancing soil health and yielding harvests of clean, natural grapes. Yields are kept limited to realize a quality of fruit that's concentrated and bursting with ripe natural sugars.

Central to the excellence of Villa Maria is an uncompromising attention to the health of each individual vine and cleanliness of environment. A Pinot Noir of remarkable intensity, redolent with the titillating complexity of fragrant fresh herbs, brimming with red cherry fruit richness, the savouryness of grilled mushroom and aromatic smoke, engaging and articulate over a length of fine, grainy tannins.

Attorney Vineyard is planted to a north facing block on the dry eastern foothills of Wairau Valley. Fully Biogro certified organic since 2012, its deep clay soils receive minimal rainfall yet offer the perfect microclimes for organic farming. The superb harvests of Attorney Vineyard are distinctive for their tiny, thick skinned berries, fortuitously yielding dark intense wines of fine structure and bold tannins. Heady bouquets, coffee bean, blackberries and black olive, layers of savoury flavours, cardamom and clove, length of liquorice before a juicy blackcurrant finish.

Villa Loco allows nature to do its work, to yield fruit which is minimally handled, allowing the ferments to progress in a slow and easy manner. Selection of site and minimalist handling of the fruit are central. This allows the wines to reflect the perfection of nature. The end result is a Shiraz which expresses the varietal profile and regional character from whence it originates.

The solid super Tuscan backbone of Sangiovese with various inclusions of Cabernet, Merlot and Syrah, inaugurally introduced in 1928 by Marquis Niccolò Antinor, the first Chianti ever to be made suitable for bottle ageing and development. In 2001, Piero Antinori launched a new step in the evolution of Villa Antinori, making it a pure Tuscan Indicazione Geografica Tipica vinified exclusively from fruit grown to the finest Tuscany estates. Such a well regarded and internationally renowned marque, the label has remained largely unchanged since 1928.

From the fully mature Rocca delle Macie estate vineyards at the southwest of Chianti Classico. The strictly sanctioned accord of Sangiovese, Merlot and Canaiolo, treated to an old world style of vinification and filled to French oak for an extended term of maturation. It is here amongst the ancient communes of Castellina, that local growers have been treading and finishing their wines in the good old fashioned packaging which brought the joy of Chianti to the world. Vega Sicila Valbuena was inaugurally vintaged in 1915, crafted in the style of the Rioja wines of the day, treated to an extended ageing in oaken vats and bottled to order. Originally planned as a gift to friends of Vega Sicilia, Valbuena has since become an icon wine and national treasure.

The inhospitable uplands of Ribera del Duero are ideal for viticulture, parched rocky soils and frigid climes compel the rugged vines to extract maximum nourishment and yield harvests of reduced berries, endowed with extraordinary intensity and lined with muscular tannins. Vega Sicilia was established 1864 with a view to emulating the great growths of Bordeaux. Established 1864 with a view to crafting fine distillates, Bodegas Vega Sicilia sourced eighteen thousand plantings of Cabernet, Merlot and Malbec from Bordeaux, to be used in the making of brandy and Ratafia. In 1876 Vega Sicilia won an appointment to the Spanish royal family, further awarded in 1880 with Grand Cross of Isabel for services to Spain, decades before the birth of the Tempranillo wine which was to make Vega Sicilia so famous.

Traditionally in Spain, the few wineries that bottled their own fruit, most sold straight from cask, denoted Reserva Especial they represented an assemblage of the finest harvests, the most representative work of the winery. A cepage of varying proportions, Tempranillo and Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon, treated to an extended maturation in a selection of new and seasoned, French and American oak casks and larger format vats for many years. The oak vessels themselves are a critical part of the vinification, coopered within the very grounds of the Vega Sicilia wineworks.

A blend of different Unicos from three superb vintages, aged at least fifteen years. Reserva Especial can include grapes from harvests more than thirty years apart and usually only available to private enthusiasts under strict allocation. One of the world's great first growths, Reserva Especial adheres to the ancient Spanish practice of bringing together wines of different years to retain a profound estate style.

Reserva Especial is unquestionably a unique wine, one of the great Spanish classics. Its personality is derived from the quality of fruit, extravagant ageing and uncompromising care for detail. From a universal perspective, the peculiarity of character defines Reserva Especial as a very Spanish wine, it receives respect at the very mention of its name. All the efforts of Vega Sicilia command reverence, wines of the greatest elegance, long lived wonders which are renowned for maintaining their youthful fruit character as they evolve complexity for decades.

Unico Cosecha is a very long lived wine. Components of Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec or Merlot, vary from vintage to vintage, retaining a remarkable youthfulness of fruit and seamless integration with oak after ten years ageing under the Vega Sicilia cellars.
