A mostly Semillon wine with a component of Sauvignon Blanc, sourced from estate Clare Valley vineyards, fashioned into a refreshing and stylish wine at the Annies Lane wineworks.

Branded in earlier years under the historic Quelltaler label, Annie's Lane is an exuberant Riesling vinified from fruit grown to distinguished Clare Valley sites, including the famous Carlsfield and Sevenhill vineyards. Carlsfield was planted in 1935 and produces fruit with ripe citrus characters, whilst Sevenhill yields Riesling of finesse and dominant steely qualities. There are three blocks of Sauvignon Blanc at Amisfield, near the shores of Lake Dunstan in Central Otago. Older vines at the edge of Rocky Knoll yield fruit with delicious ripe stone fruit characters and pronounced minerality. Younger plantings on a beautiful elevated terrace above the winery provide grapes which are brim full of vim and vigor. A combination of wild indigenous yeast vinifications, oak barrel ferments and sedimentery lees stirring, achieves a singularly vigorous and compelling case for Central Otago Sauvignon Blanc.

The fleshy voluptuousness and mouth filling generosity of Central Otago Pinot Gris, hand picked off the top terrace of Amisfield's vineyard, grapes are all gently pressed for a long cool ferment, partially in a selection of seasoned French oak barrels for roundness and complexity, followed by a term of age on light sedimentery lees. A textural and persistent Pinot Gris style,saturated with all the classic varietal characters, spices, shortbread and white fleshy pear, the mouth filling richness of barrel ferments, magnificently balanced with perfectly pitched acidity and delicate residual sweetness.

Amisfield are situated in the southern most wine growing region of New Zealand, at Lowburn in Central Otago, just north of the 45th Parallel. High altitudes and a cool climate, long summers and clean glacial soils, translate into limited yields of the finest aromatic, single vineyard Chenin Blanc. Amisfield is all about the voluptuous expression of Chenin Blanc and preserving the virtue of site, articulating pure and refined aromatics, while ensuring balance of residual sugar to crisp acidity.

The Amberley Estate property was primarily the subject of a detailed soil, climate and aspect analysis before any planting of vines. The growing seasons here foster a healthy crop with ample foliage, delivering fruit in excellent condition. The McWilliams winemaking team are blessed with access to some of the most splendid Sauvignon Blanc vineyards in Marlborough. Parcels of fruit from the Awatere Valley provide a steely and racy acidity, while grapes from the Wairau Valley display powerful and intense varietal expressions with lovely lifted passionfruit characters. A further component from the delta in upper Wairau contributes ripe and refined melon citrus flavours. A timely and topical accord of Frankland River fruit, sourced from the oldest blocks on Alkoomi Estate vineyards. Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc are so well suited to this part of the world, that they brought narcissism to new levels after partnering off as the classically dry white. Components are fermented and aged on sedimentery yeast lees, achieving a style that's interwoven with savoury, creamy textural notes supported by fine, cool climate acidity.

Alkoomi take full advantage of the cool, maritime Frankland River climes, to encourage the development of all the charming fruit characters which articulate a fresh, unwooded Chardonnay. Young and young at heart, minus the oak and with a little more oomph than usual for this type of wine, finished to a crisp, fruit driven styling, it lingers long and fruit forward with some cheeky punch bowl flavours, lime rickey, pawpaw and peach. Its wonderful freshness make it a cinch with all cosmopolitan luncheon fare.

It was the planting of Riesling vines at Alkoomi in 1971 which firmly established Frankland River as one of the nation's finest white wine growing regions. The inaugural vintages of Alkoomi Riesling enthused the Australian industry press and inspired growers to take up viticulture. Black Label is sourced from the oldest of Alkoomi's blocks, its penetrating length of Bickford lime juice characters and clean lingering finish makes it the wine of choice to accompany the freshest game fish, west coast marron or moreton bay bugs.

Araldica are the largest growers cooperative in Piedmont, established by a parish priest in the 1950s, they remain true to their old world style of communal management and deep respect for the land. Alasia is a true Moscato d'Asti, pleasingly low in alcohol, fruit filled and crisp, its slightly off dry palate, striking the perfect balance to an intensely aromatic wine. The long ripening seasons around Frogmore estate vineyard at Campania in Coal River Valley, translates into harvests of Sauvignon Blanc with softer, juicier acids and more developed fruit characters.
